From one perspective the biblical account of our creation, fall, and redemption is expressive of a journey from a garden to a city. The journey is not straightforward. From its embryonic and troublesome beginning in Eden (in the book of Genesis) to the New Jerusalem coming down from God out of Heaven (in Revelation) some mysterious and often difficult terrain is encountered. The views of rugged mountaintops and of luscious valleys are nevertheless, breath-taking. The whole cosmos is taken into account, and our own place within its majestic dimensions.

In the context of my work as an artist Inception and Culmination are representative of similar Alpha and Omega domains, environments within which my use of a square motif has developed over the past thirty-five years (see Foursquare). There is on one hand an open-ended manifestation and on the other a more architectural enterprise. The two prints are also reflective of places in a wider personal journey that has embraced various making processes and materials. Everything is connected.
